Hama Rikyu Garden

This garden is a 10 minute walk from Anne’s work near Shiodome. It was originally a family garden for the Tokugawa Shogun. The garden was used by the Shogun for duck hunting and he even had a duck grave built to console the duck's spirits that were killed there. It was severely damaged by the Great Kanto Earthquake and bombings from WWII. After the war the park was renovated and made public by the imperial family. The garden is also home to a 300 year old pine, but having shown you pictures of a 600 year old pine it doesn't really compete.
